Form gives us the basic structure in which is presented to the audience, within this is the conventional aspects which match that of the genre and hold certain ideologies. Codes are what bring meaning to the overall product, most have hidden meaning which is usually open for the audience to discover, this brings an interactive element to the product. In its most basic form which are known as semiotics in which denotation and connotation are brought to light and create meaning and ideologies. Content is what we see on the product, linking closely to Form with its hidden meanings and semiotics, it is focused on more of the technical aspects such as Cinematography, Editing, Mise en Scene and Sound.
Some key elements that would make a good music video would be:
- Relevant content to the song on the music video.
- A good strong narrative.
- Unique in some form.
- Variety of Costumes.
- Variety of Locations.
- Artist is featured.
- Lip Syncing.
- Rhythmic editing.
