These are examples of videos that are self aware of the band that they have been produced from. As you can seen from the era differences, it is a style that has been carried across throughout the decades of the music industry.
In terms of promotion it is a clever technique. Almost subliminal towards the audience it lets them know of the other productions that they have to offer. This is a well thought out marketing process and technique.
In terms of my own video, I think that having this technique would be a rare convention and it shall be featured in a different way. Very little relation to the music video and mostly about the promotion.
